IMPROVE STUDENT OUTCOMES

LOWER THE RATIO

By adding someone who can help to the classroom, you are halving the ratio of students per adult. To put it simply, two students can be helped at once, which in turn will give students more time during the lesson to complete their work.

If a student waits 2 minutes a day for a question to be answered, they are losing over 6.5 hours a year waiting, close to a whole school day.

EXTRA SUPPORT

There are many levels of support that can be utlized within a class. Some students may require additional help with the explanation of a task, conversely, high achievers need to be monitored to maintain engagement and focus. Some classes may have challenging students who require closer attention or a higher level of supervision, others may have a larger number of students to supervise.

A "NEW FACE"

When on placement, student teachers are full of enthusiasm and ambition, looking to connect with students and have an impact on their lives. In most cases, the addition of a student-teacher is a positive experience for the class. In essence, this is what can be maintained and achieved in the Connect program.

Additionally, some students will develop deeper relationships with student-teachers for a variety of personal or social reasons. If students enjoy the class it has a significant impact on their achievement.
